May Updates

Good Morning Families,

We have so many May updates I did not want to delay this message for planning purposes for families. We have had a very busy month so far with field trips, class projects, the third grade learning showcase and much more. We only have about 13 days left of school!  The last day will be June 12th and no lunches will be served.  There is also NO CARES in the p.m so please plan accordingly and make sure the office is aware of how your child is going home if it is different than normal. Within those days we will have field day, the third grade field trip, Kona Ice day and we will squeeze our last All School Meeting In.

I want to thank all the families who helped out during our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon and that week. The food was delicious and the desserts were great. Thank you to the PAC for always taking such good care of us! We appreciate it.

We do have some staffing changes coming up and I will update families before school lets out with any new hires. I did want to let families know that Mrs. O'Reilly our Administrative Assistant is transferring over to the Woburn Street School secretary position. We will miss her and wish her the best of luck. She will be a great addition to the Woburn Street School.

Lastly, report cards will be going out the last day of school.  Students must be in school to receive the report card or it would need to be picked up that afternoon. Otherwise we will mail it to your house. I will post my work days for families during the summer and I am always available via email unless otherwise stated.

Also, remember that students are welcome to send post cards to the principal during the summer months. I love reading them, creating a bulletin board and I write back to all students who write to me.

May News and Upcoming Dates

Dear Families,

Next week is teacher appreciation week. Our PAC is sponsoring a luncheon on Friday and we are so thankful for that and appreciative of all our families do for us.

We have a very busy schedule in the upcoming 6 weeks with field trips, special days at schools, field days, concerts and projects. Please be sure to double check with your classroom teacher if you are unsure on anything specific related to your child's classroom for projects or field trips.

With the nice weather approaching, (hopefully) we are still in need of small water bottles for the students. We like to stock up in the nurses office and the main office. This will also help us out in the fall. Please feel free to drop off water bottles at car rider or bring them to the main office.

This week we have grade 3 Math MCAS taking place. This will be from Monday-Thursday and you should have your individual class schedules for that from your teacher. Friday will be a 1/2 day for our C.I.T day. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 and no lunches will be served. As always if your child is going home by a different means of transportation that day then we will need a note.

We will be having Island day again this year on June 11th. It has been a tradition for students and staff. We are ordering leis this year through the PAC for all students. It will take place after lunches and we will be sending out a letter to describe the day as we have in years past.

Just to make parents aware we are going down to five first grade classrooms next year due to enrollment and we will maintain the same amount of classrooms for second and third grade. In addition, Mrs. Lauren Cameron will be teaching third grade and Ms. Sadowski will be teaching second grade next year.

Teacher Appreciation Week is Next Week

Whose Child is This?

Author Unknown
"Whose child is this?" I asked one day
Seeing a little one out at play
"Mine", said the parent with a tender smile
"Mine to keep a little while
To bathe his hands and comb his hair
To tell him what he is to wear
To prepare him that he may always be good
And each day do the things he should"

"Whose child is this?" I asked again
As the door opened and someone came in
"Mine", said the teacher with the same tender smile
"Mine, to keep just for a little while
To teach him how to be gentle and kind
To train and direct his dear little mind
To help him live by every rule
And get the best he can from school"

"Whose child is this?" I ask once more
Just as the little one entered the door
"Ours" said the parent and the teacher as they smiled
And each took the hand of the little child
"Ours to love and train together
Ours this blessed task forever."
