Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you enjoying the summer. The start
of the school year is fast approaching. The custodians and staff have been
working diligently to prepare the school for opening day. The building looks
inviting and ready to go for our incoming first graders and returning second
and third grade students. We wanted to remind families that the school will be open
on Monday, August 31st for parents/guardians and students to walk
through their classrooms between 5:00-6:00 p.m. This has been a tradition in
the Wilmington Elementary Schools and we feel that it helps to alleviate any
anxiety that students may have by allowing them to view their classroom
location and see where their desk is located the day before school starts.
Teachers are not present this evening but will be available during open house
which will be on September 24th. More information will follow on
grade level times for that evening.
Please utilize our webpage for information on car rider
procedures, teacher websites, supply lists and other information you may be
seeking about the school policies and procedures. In addition, communication
will occur through the Principal Blog, http://shawsheenschool.blogspot.com/,
twitter, phone and email utilizing the connect 5 messaging system. We also have many new staff and staff changes this year. Please feel free to read about our new staff on the blog.
In addition, this week you were sent information on how to update your child's emergency information online. If you have not done so, please go online using you Aspen Login and password to update your students emergency contact information, medical information and permissions such as photo and social media.
Enjoy your last weeks of summer. We look forward to seeing
all the children entering school on Tuesday, September 1st.
