Staffing Updates 2015-2016
Ms. Maggie Bolt
Second Grade Teacher
Ms. Bolt is transferring to us from the North Intermediate
School where she taught 5th
grade last year. Ms. Bolt has worked within a second and third grade classroom
in the past. She is well versed in readers and writers workshop. Ms. Bolt is
excited to be returning to her roots as an elementary school teacher. Ms. Bolt
is taking over for Mrs. Walsh who has recently accepted a position at the
Boutwell as a kindergarten teacher.
Mrs. Bridget Lipski First Grade Teacher
Mrs. Lipski has been a long term substitute here at
the Shawsheen Elementary School covering for a second
grade leave of absence. Mrs. Lipski has her Early Childhood license and her
masters in education. She has subbed in the district for 3 years and is part of
our Shawsheen community. Mrs. Lipski is taking over for Mrs. O’Connor who has
recently accepted a position at the Boutwell as a kindergarten teacher.
Mrs. Jalisa Butler Pathways
Teacher
Mrs. Butler has been covering a long term leave this
year in the Pathways program. Ms. Butler is no stranger to the Shawsheen School as she started off her as an aide
and we are thrilled that she has returned as the teacher.
Ms. Karen O’Reilly Administrative
Assistant
Mrs. O’Reilly has been covering the long term leave
for our Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Peterson will be returning for a short time prior to her retirement and Mrs. O’Reilly and she will have
some overlap time. Mrs. O’Reilly has been doing a tremendous job filling in as
our administrative assistant. She is also not a stranger to the community or
the school. She has worked in the system as a substitute and as an aide. She
also brings with her essential office skills and a warm and welcoming
personality.
Mr. Ben Pershouse Language
Based Classroom
Mr. Pershouse is coming to us from Ayer public
schools. Mr. Pershouse is a special educator who is Wilson certified and works with a variety of
specialized instruction. Mr. Pershouse comes to us with 4 years of experience
teaching and we are excited to have him on board. Mr. Pershouse is replacing
Mrs. Tappendorf who will be moving to service special education students in
grade 1.
Ms. Kelly McKeown
First Grade Teacher
Ms. McKeown was hired last year and did a terrific job
in third grade. We have eliminated one grade 3 classroom and transferred Ms.
McKeown to first grade. Ms. McKeown is certified in Elementary Education and
has her Masters degree. Ms. McKeown is looking forward to working with grade
one.
Mr. Richard Dineen
Long Term Assistant Principal
Mr. Dineen comes to us from charter school experience
as a teacher and administrator. We are fortunate that Mr. Dineen has completed
his administrator program through MESPA and is now certified as a
principal/assistant principal. Mr. Dineen will be with us until the end of
December.
Ms. Erin Cowden, First Grade Teacher
Ms. Cowden is no stranger to the Shawsheen Elementary School .
Ms. Cowden completed her student teacher here and also covered a long term
leave in grade one. Ms. Cowden has graduated with her BA from Rivier College
and has obtained her early childhood license, elementary license and special
education license. We are very fortunate to welcome her to our first grade team
and Shawsheen community.
Mr. Michael Bullers, Health Teacher
Mr. Bullers is licensed and certified in Health
education in Pa, Maryland and Massachusetts . He has
worked in Washington
for the past few years and is now relocating to this area. Michael displayed a
passion for education and teaching Health during his interview. He also has a
positive outlook and optimistic approach to life and learning. He has many
experiences working in urban schools and particularly with character education
and bullying. He also contributes to the communities that he works in by
coaching and assisting in other ways. We are excited to welcome Michael on
board.
