Bathroom Remodel!

Dear families,

As part of our school improvements with the money that the students raised VIA PAC from the Coin Challenge we thought that we would surprise them for when they returned to school.

Please see the video below of our new Bathroom Remodel for our Awesome Students.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday. Enjoy your last few days of break.

A special thank you to Mrs. Cazeau for sharing this idea and helping to make it a reality.

Thank you,

Mrs. King

January News

Good Afternoon,

Thank you to all our families and staff for all the many contributions over the past months. Between Festival of Trees, Donations for Wilmington Families, and donations for the PAC fundraisers, it has been much appreciated. Please be sure to check the PAC's Facebook page and web page for upcoming events such as Trivia Night on March 22nd. I know it sells out fast!

This month we have many exciting things happening in the school. Rob Surette is coming in on Monday for an enrichment program for all students. This should be very exciting. Rob has traveled around the world exploring education through his art. This is his you tube video link below https://t.co/zSCwvtGGMc.

On Friday we will be having our All School Meeting where we will continue to discuss upcoming events, PBIS and an incentive for filling up our Piggy School Bank from the PAC. Thank you so much for any families who have sent in bags of coins. The students are having a blast handing them in and filling the piggy bank up.  Please have students wear their Shawsheen t-shirts or Shawsheen gear on Friday for the All School Meeting!

Also in January we will be having our first Grade 1 music informances. The notice has been sent out to families from Ms. Rene on what this is. Ms. Rene in accordance with the music department is excited to try this out with students and families this year. We hope to see families attend their child's session in January and there will be an opportunity to provide feedback to Ms. Rene.

Just a few reminders that it is getting cold out there and we do go out for recess unless it is in the warning zone on our weather guide. Please be sure students come in properly dressed with warm jackets, hats and gloves. Also, if any families need any extra jackets, hats or gloves please let me know. We always keep extras here and are happy to confidentially supply whatever families may need.

For grade 3 families, information about MCAS dates and background information will be sent out in the next week or so.

Please see the back for upcoming dates.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy January!

Mrs. King

December Updates and Happy New Year

Thank you to all the parents who have contributed to the staff, students and community in some way this December. Between the many collections with Festival of Trees, Toys for Wilmington Children, Craft Parties, Volunteering, PAC contributions and much more. We truly appreciate it.
We have had a very busy month in December and we have a well needed break coming up. Just a reminder that tomorrow will be an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:00 and there will be NO cares and No lunches will be served. Please be sure that your child has a note on how they are getting home if it is a different means of transportation than usual. Also, tomorrow car rider will be very busy in the p.m. due to CARES not being available. Please be patient with the process tomorrow so that all students are safe in the parking lot.
Lastly, the PBIS team has been going strong and the students now have completed all the lessons on respect, resilience and responsibility.  The Shawsheen PBIS team is looking to add a parent volunteer. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. It is a proactive and interactive approach to establish a social culture in a school that supports social emotional and academic success. The purpose is to establish a school climate where appropriate behavior is the norm. The team meets twice a month. Some meetings are on Tuesdays from 7:30-8:30 and some meetings are on Thursdays from 3:00-4:00. The volunteer should be able to commit to most meetings. If you are interested in joining the team please let the team know by completing the Google Form below.

I want to wish everyone a happy, safe and restful break. We will see you in the New Year!

Mrs. King

December Updates

Good Morning Families,
We have had another very busy month! Over the past few weeks we had our Author Visit for the entire school. First grade had the Starlab enrichment program and second grade went on their annual field trip to Plimouth Plantation. We also have many amazing things to celebrate such as our new buddy bench. We will be debuting our buddy bench video at the school committee meeting on December 12th if any families would like to tune in at 7:00 p.m. We also had the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks deliver our annual dictionaries gift to our third graders. This is such an amazing tradition that they started about 12 years ago with the schools and it is very much appreciated. In addition, as a school we participated in Festival of Trees over the past weekend and we won for most spirited school tree! Below is a picture of our tree. Thank you to everyone for helping to make this tree happen.
This week we had bus evacuation and the students all had an opportunity to practice and had a review on bus safety with Officer Moon. Also, on Thursday of this week are parent/teacher conferences. There will be an early release day on Thursday and no lunches will be served. Students will be dismissed at 12 noon. If your child is going home by a different means of transportation, please send in a note. In addition, please be sure to enter and exit through the front door during conferences. CARES is still going on and we will have students in the building so all doors will be locked. Someone will be at the office to let families in.
We are collecting Toys for Wilmington children for one more week. If you have any donations you would like to drop off during conferences or send in with your child the bin is in front of the office.
December 13th is picture retake day.
