Updates

Good Afternoon Families,

We have had a very busy week leading up to vacation. The students participated in Cupid Cafe, Dental Health Program and the 100th day of school. The students really enjoyed making Valentines for the Senior Center and other members of the community. Thank you our cafeteria workers for putting together cupid’s cafe!
Coming up right when we get back from Vacation week will be our Dr. Seuss week. Attached is the information about all the different days we will be having. In addition we will be kicking off our March Reading Celebration Month. As part of the celebration, staff will be making short video clips of what they like to read and where. We will be sharing this montage with the students on ALL SCHOOL meeting that week. Once we kick it off, families will have an opportunity to upload videos and do the same. More to come!

We had a great enrichment program from Todd Waites the musician. The students really enjoyed the performance and learned a lot about being different and never giving up toward your goals. It was very inspiring.

We continue to work on rolling out our PBIS program. Within the next month we will be rolling out the Positive Reward System for students. Our PBIS team is finalizing some of the details and we will have another All School Meeting in March to discuss what that will look like. In addition, at the February 28th school committee meeting at 7:00 p.m.  we are having students and staff present about our 3 R's of responsibility, respect and resilience. Please feel free to come and support our school during the meeting or watch on T.V!

Read Across America Spirit Week!

Read Across America Spirit Week

February 26th-March 3rd

We are celebrating reading and Dr. Seuss’ birthday!
Each day, we will feature a different book.

Monday: Cat in the Hat day. Wear your own hat!

Tuesday: Fox in Socks day. Wear your crazy socks!

Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday day. Wear mismatched clothes!

Thursday: Oh, the Places You’ll Go day. Come dressed like what
you want to be when you grow up!

Friday: The Lorax day. Wear a mustache!

Please do not go out and buy things for these days! Anything that children have at home or can make would be just great.
Thank you and looking forward to our Reading Celebration this month!
Dear Families,
During February 26th-March 3rd we will be kicking off Read across America Spirit week at the Shawsheen. Our hopes are to get students even more excited about reading at home and sharing their love of reading with the teachers, students and staff at school. On the back of this page are different days in which students can participate in. We did this last year and it was a blast. In addition, we are going to make March a Reading Celebration month. During this month we will do an All School Meeting Kickoff where we will have a video montage of teachers and staff talking about their favorite books and where they like to read. We will send the link to the video for families to watch as well and give families an opportunity to do the same type of video to share. We are also going to have a bulletin board in the cafeteria with a Dr. Seuss Theme, the Lorax. The Lorax wears a mustache so we are going to have students write on a mustache template their favorite book or a book they will recommend. We will be hanging these around the cafeteria. During the month, we will share videos that come in and read some mustaches over the loud speaker. We hope that children will enjoy these fun events to celebrate reading.
On the reverse are the days for Dr. Seuss Birthday celebration.
Thank you,
Mrs. King
