Valentine’s Day Reminder

Valentine’s Day Reminder

As Valentine’s Day, approaches I would like to take this opportunity to remind students and parents about our classroom celebration policy here at the Shawsheen School.

There are several students in the building who have life threatening food allergies.  During classroom celebrations, please do not bring in food items that your child’s teacher has not requested.  Small trinkets and non food items are always welcome.  Students may bring in snacks or beverages for themselves.  Home-baked or bakery items are also not allowed in classrooms system wide but you may do so for your own child.

Please remember not to purchase valentines with candy attached, including lollipops and conversation hearts.  Do not to send your child in with any type of candy or food attached to the valentine as  these can not be passed out with the other valentines.  This will be heart breaking for your child as well as the
other children in the class.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call (978) 694-6024.

As always, thank you for your cooperation.

A Workshop for Parents and Professionals Is your child affected by Anxiety in school?

Anxiety Workshop
A Workshop for Parents and Professionals
Is your child affected by Anxiety in school?
Then this workshop is for you.
Many students experience some form and/or degree of anxiety during their school years. In many situations anxiety cannot always be seen or easily identified. Moreover, in a typical classroom setting, it is much easier to overlook, under-identify or treat students with anxiety ineffectively. Children and adolescents who experience anxiety often suffer alone. They may face challenges quietly and fail to seek help from either parents or teachers. As a result, both well-being and classroom performance are adversely impacted.
Please come hear what our panel of speakers have to say in regards to this topic:
Breien Milton, Bethany Dionne, and Marissa Bellio – Wilmington School Psychologists The goal of this workshop is to increase participants' awareness of anxiety in children and adolescents. When parents and teachers work collaboratively to address and treat anxiety, efforts can be extraordinarily successful!
Date: Monday, February 2, 2015
Location: Wilmington High School Library
Time: 6:30-8:30PM
