Happy April Break and Upcoming Dates
Good Afternoon Families,
I can't believe it is already April vacation. The students have had such a wonderful month so far with the exploration on the playground with new recess equipment, the grade three state house field trip, and the Bug World Presentation for grade one. This is a reminder that the Ice Cream Social is this evening. The PAC is collecting food for the food pantry in Wilmington at the door. Also, there will be lots and lots of raffles for anyone interested! Lastly, there is no school this Friday and school will resume on April 24th.
On April 24th, the WEF will be supporting the WHAM walk this year. Students were sent home with flyers for donating to the walk. All students and staff will be participating in walking around the school from 10:00-10:30 on Monday. All families are invited to attend and watch or walk with us.
On April 27th the Town of Wilmington will be hosting the Special Olympics. This should be a very special day for many of our students and families.
Below is a list of more upcoming events that we have scheduled until the end of the school year. Please note that we will be updating this as the school year comes to a close.

April News
Good Afternoon Families,
April is finally here and we have so many fun events and field trips coming up for all three grade levels. I am also hoping the nice weather will allow the students to get some sunlight and exercise in the next coming month! We have ordered and received new recess equipment that we are excited to share with the students once the fields clear up.
Coming up in this month, we have Grade 3 ELA MCAS next week on April 4, 5, and 6th. It is our expectation that all grade students will participate in this and try their best. Notices have been sent out to grade 3 families on preparations for these days. In addition, grade 1 will have an enrichment program on Bugs on April 11th. They have been exploring this in their science unit and now will have an opportunity to have hands on exploration. During that same week, grade 3 students will be visiting the state house. This has been a traditional trip for grade 3 students and they are looking forward to it.
We will also be having the Ice Cream Social on April 12th at the West. Please see the flyer that went home with the information. The PAC will be collecting for the food drive and providing free admission. Remember to send some items in for the raffle baskets based on the PAC notice sent home.
School vacation week will begin April 14th and last until April 23rd. Once we arrive back, on that Monday students will be doing the WHAM walk. At the Shawsheen we will be all walking as a school at 10:00 a.m for 30 minutes. Families are welcome to attend and walk with their child or surround the outside by the back lot where we will be walking. A flyer was sent home for donations that will go to the WEF foundation which gives back to the schools. Please feel free to send those donations in.
Wilmington is thrilled to host the special Olympics this year. This will be held at the high school on April 27th from 9-1.

Wilmington Facility Master Plan

Facility Master Plan scenario boards. We placed these boards on a table by the
front door of our school. You’re
encouraged to view the different scenarios that are presented and are welcome

New Blog On Behavior Interventions At Home
Hello parents,
My name is Paula Bartalamia and I am sharing with you a blog
as the Behavior Interventionist at Shawsheen Elementary school! Some of you may
not know much about my role at Shawsheen but this blog is to share my
background and experience with dealing with a variety of behaviors.
