Dear Families,
I can't believe it is already May! We have had such a busy month and we have more events happening this month. Many of the grade levels have secured their spring field trips and teachers are preparing students for these special days. If you are selected as a volunteer, please be sure to come into the office and fill out a CORI form.
As a school we have continued discussing Growth Mindset and the entire school will gather together again on Wednesday for another all school meeting. We will review our school norms/expectations and discuss some more examples of being your best self. In addition, the students will be surprised with a new school song developed by many of their ideas during music class with Mrs. Rene. Please keep this a secret until Wednesday!
We have many events in May coming up for parents. One event is being held on May 12th called the Behavioral Health Fair. The superintendent sent out information on this in her most recent blog posting. Childcare will be provided and it is an amazing chance to select and sit in on workshops ranging on varied topics relating to mental health.
In addition to this event, on May 24th and May 31st, Theresa Wiggins from Village parenting will be here to present to families. It is two separate workshops and you can choose to come to one or both. These workshops were provided by the Curriculum grant on Mindfulness that I wrote earlier this year. We are so fortunate to be able to have these workshops here at the school. Childcare will also be provided. The workshops were based on the parent survey that went out including the times that best worked for families and other considerations. A notice will be going home next week if you wish to sign up. I hope to see families there, please save the date. Topics will include Intentional Parenting and Parents as Educators.
Lastly, Math MCAS is happening in May for Grade 3 students. This will occur on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday, May 18th. The test should take approximately 60 minutes, however students have as long as they need to complete the test. Snacks will be provided and a reminder will be sent out the evening before.
On the blog, I have many upcoming dates posted and information on the placement process. Also on the blog is more information on the Parent workshops that will take place in May.
Have a wonderful month!
